Mr. Christopher Caputo

My name is Mr. Caputo and I am an 8th Grade Science teacher. I graduated from Fordham University with my B.S. in Environmental Science and M.S. in Teaching Adolescence Biology. My main goal as a teacher is to share my passion for science with my students. Students will solve real world problems through hands-on activities. For example, building water filters, designing natural antibiotics, and researching fruit flies. Students will also become critical thinkers as we will debate the answers to different ethical questions. Besides teaching science, I also enjoy playing music. I have played the trumpet since 5th grade. I played in Fordham’s Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, and Pep Band. I have also played in a few of the concerts at Bay Academy! I am looking forward to an exciting and successful school year! If you have any questions/concerns, please don't hesitate to email me, (ccaputo2@schools.nyc.gov) or contact me on Jupiter. Thank you!

Mrs. Giambra

My name is Michelle Giambra and I am a 6th grade Science teacher at Bay Academy. I attended public school all my life, and then attended Brooklyn College where I earned a degree in Communications with a minor in television and radio. After college, I worked in the advertising department at WKTU radio station, then at Creative Media in NYC as a media planner. After 3 years of doing so, I decided to go back to Brooklyn College for my Masters’ degree in education, realizing that being an educator would make me much happier and be much more rewarding. My teaching career began at Seth Low I.S. 96, where I worked for 8 years until I had my 2 children (now aged 14 and 11). At that time, I decided to take some time off to spend at home with my young children. I have been teaching at the Bay Academy since 2012. Needless to say, these past 6 years have been the best in my working career. Not only is the Bay Academy the very best middle school, but the staff and the students that attend are incomparable! I truly count my blessings!
